Sonny Mtongwiza

Picture
Sonny Mtongwiza is a Toronto-based illustrator and aspiring graphic novel author. He utilizes techniques often seen in his favourite graphic novels. Works such as Kentaro Miura's serialized Japanese manga Berserk, and video games designed by Hidetaka Miyazaki, are big inspirations for his art. Other media influences include movies like Robert Eggers' adaptation of Nosferatu (2024) and Alex Garland's Annihilation (2018).

He is enrolled in Humber Polytechnic's Visual and Digital Arts program. His work focuses on a mastery of detail, perspective, and the creative process. He uses techniques like hatching / crosshatching, multiple points of perspective, and well-placed linework to give his art a dynamic and stylistic feel.

He plans to begin writing short graphic novel stories in the near future, with the goal of developing his own serialized graphic novel.
